About Us

C.R.O.S.S. was founded in 2008 to address the issue of homelessness in our community.  We are a non-profit charitable organization that is staffed by a 100% volunteer staff.  We work with different agencies and organizations in our community to help direct our guests toward the right resources.

C.R.O.S.S. currently operates in a 4-bedroom house located in Shelbyville, TN.  A manager resides at the shelter to monitor and assist guests daily.  Our men’s room holds up to seven men, the women’s room holds up to five, and the family room accommodates six people.  We offer a safe environment for our guests to assist them in returning to being productive members of our community. This includes providing furniture, household and pantry items when they leave our shelter. We have storage sheds to receive donations for this purpose.

Our Mission

The purpose of our program is to provide relief to the poor, distressed and underprivileged.  We provide shelter, food, and life skills intervention in a Christian atmosphere for homeless men, women, and children. We operate for the benefit of the homeless and poverty-level members of our five-county service area.  We also provide limited short-term shelter for persons without resources who are passing through our community with destinations outside our service area, and transitional housing up to 90 days.

We provide sleeping quarters and meals for men, women and children.  Donated clothes and hygiene items are available for guests in need. Applications can be processed on a daily basis, but operating hours vary depending on the manager’s schedule.

C.R.O.S.S. provides our services regardless of race, age, gender, ethnicity, religious affiliation, or lifestyle orientation. The City of Shelbyville, churches, organizations and private individuals support C.R.O.S.S.

How Can You Help?

We accept food, clothing, toiletries, household and furniture items, and cash donations. We also need volunteers for maintenance projects, help transporting guests, and to assist manager.

Donations are appreciated!
